It doesn’t matter what you fancy after a long day of work. It may be Indian, it may be Chinese, but one thing is for sure and that is that you won’t be able to enjoy either of these meals without rice. Rice is a staple of both of these, and many more cuisines all over the world, so if I told you that there was a device which could make cooking one of the world’s most versatile ingredients easier you would probably bite my hand off! Luckily for you and not as luckily for my hand, there is such a device and it is creatively named a rice cooker. In today’s review I am going to be taking a look at the Aroma rice cooker to see if it would make a welcome addition to your kitchen.

What features does it have?

For a device which is certainly on the budget end of the scale when it comes to rice cookers, the Aroma packs in a fair few features. It has some very easy to use functions including programmable digital controls for steam, white rice, and brown rice. Also included is a delay timer, so if you want to prep your rice to cook for your arrival home later on in the day then you can do this. You won’t go without when it comes to accessories with this machine either. The accessories include: a steam tray, a measuring cup, serving spatula and a book of exclusive recipes. When you put all of this with the fact that it can cook vegetables and keep your dinner hot with its “keep warm” function, you are looking at a very nice little machine.

What does it look like?

The Aroma looks exactly like you would imagine a rice cooker to. It has used the traditional black plastic and stainless steel look which countless others before it have incorporated into their design so it does not stand out with its design. It measures 8.7 x 8.5 x 9.3 inches so it isn’t particularly large either meaning storage is easy when you have finished using it! What are the positive?

It has been designed to be simple whilst still having a lot of helpful features included and this is a huge plus point for people who are not as confident with their kitchen gadgets. It was never going to set the world alight but this is a very simple, solid little rice cooker.

What are the negatives?

Some of these cookers appear to have slight build quality issues. Customers have complained about steam leaking out of the side when in use, but these complaints do appear to be individual ones rather than a reoccurring complaint so it is likely to be just individual machines instead of a companywide problem.

Sum it all up

If you are looking for a machine to help you out in the kitchen by cooking your rice and you don’t have the budget to look at the top of the range then this is one of the best cookers on the market. It will do everything you want it to and more and without breaking the bank!
